I know that I've been negligent in not posting here more often. Sorry about that! As often happens, life gets in the way. I'll try to summarize some of the more interesting stuff that's gone on in the last couple of months.
Item 1: Stazi is seeing an ENT (that would be an otolaryngolgist, or ear/nose/throat guy) on May 19 to be evaluated for ear tube placement. Her preschool teachers have mentioned to us that her expressive language development is not quite where it should be, and we've been noticing it at home, too. She's developing vocab pretty quickly, but it's all kind of babbly and mushy and hard to understand. Even the other kids at preschool have trouble understanding her. So we took her to the pediatrician, and she said, yeah, Stazi has fluid in her ears, but let's document a pattern before referring her to an ENT. Today we went back for a follow-up visit, and Stazi still has fluid in her ears. In fact, it's even worse than it was a month ago, and that's after she's been taking Zyrtec every night for possible allergies. (The doc says we can quit the Zyrtec now as it doesn't seem to have helped at all.)
So anyway, the ENT will see her in a couple of weeks and then she may get tubes. I just hope we can resolve this quickly because I'm worried about her speech development.
Item 2: I signed both kids up for swim lessons this summer, conveniently right before our beach vacation. That should be really fun if Stazi has tubes in her ears, but we'll deal with it somehow. The lessons are at the local community center's pool, which resembles an indoor water park, complete with waterslide and lazy river. The kids are excited, to put it mildly.
Okay, I gotta go pick up Zeke from school so that's all I have time for right now but I'll try to update more pretty soon. I will, I really will.
