Today I spent about five hours in front of the sewing machine and finished up both Stazi's and Zeke's new fleece footed PJs for Christmas. I make them new pajamas every year that they can wear to bed on Christmas Eve. Last year, I didn't allow enough time and didn't get around to attaching the feet to Stazi's, so for the whole year, she had pajamas with raw unfinished hems on the legs. She did not seem to mind, but it bugged me a little bit. This year, lo and behold, I actually finished both sets of pajamas well before Christmas Eve. I want some sort of award. Or at least a cookie.
Speaking of treats, I bought the candy for the Christmas stockings today and in the chocolate aisle I found this "Extra-Dark" Hershey bar with cranberries and almonds and stuff in it. I had two squares of it after my lunch, and it appeared to have zero effect on my blood sugar. I am tentatively excited about this new discovery. Any chocolate that I can actually eat without sending my blood sugar somewhere into orbit around Pluto is a decidedly good thing. I assume that this bar is better than others because it is very dark, meaning it is quite bitter and less highly sweetened than other chocolates. Which is okay by me, because I like dark chocolate. If I am feeling daring, I may have another two squares tomorrow afternoon. Because I like to live dangerously.
There are still a few last-minute Christmas gifts to buy, and candy recipes to review, and I really need to get up early enough tomorrow morning to make the kids some oatmeal so we can use up the last banana before it goes totally rotten, so I will cut this entry short in order to head for bed. Where I will dream dark-chocolate and fleece-pajama dreams.

We discussed this chocolate at dinner (John read the entry first and told me about it) and agreed it was smething we must try. Thanks, Morrie, for telling me where to find it! As a chocolate-loving family, we have been on a long quest for a cold-milk chocolate mix-in that is not made by Nestle Corp. Ovaltine seems to be the only option, and, well, the taste is a bit thick. Okay, it passes muster with the kids. Any ideas?

Well, I found 7 different Hershey bars on sale at FM, including peanut butter & caramel, but no cranberry. I guess there are some advantages to living in Ohio. If I ever find it here, I'll let you know.....

Jan, we love those Hershey bars, and I bought one for Chris's stocking that has cranberries and macadamia nuts as well, which should be yummy. In retrospect I should have bought myself one, too. Ah well. Maybe he got ME one...

I have been stockpiling candy for the sack/socks, & when I added the Hershey Peppermint candy kisses to the stash yesterday, I said this is time to quit! But I haven't seen Cranberry Almond yet, & besides dark chocolate is good for you. I had to go to Fred Meyer this afternoon anyway!! Irresistable.
