For those of you who have inquired, the albino squirrel is alive and well and still frolicking around our back yard. I don't know where he's living now, but it must be nearby, because I see him every day. I keep trying to get photographic proof of this thing, but so far no dice, because in addition to being albino, he is... well... kind of squirrelly.

Today's entry is going to be unusually short, even for me, because I think I gave myself carpal tunnel syndrome last night addressing 80+ Christmas cards. (About half are for friends and family and the other half are for a card exchange that I foolishly, foolishly signed up for.) In addition to addressing all of the damn cards, which also involved about 45 minutes of digging through old files and emails on my computer to hunt down people's addresses, I very foolishly had agreed to bake a loaf of bread for the teacher appreciation banquet they're having at the kids' school today. As I told Keith last night, "The next time I volunteer to bake bread for one of these events, smack me. Just slap me right upside the head. I'll know what it's for."

He looked amused but said nothing in response, which I assume means he's on board with this plan.

The card envelopes were finished up around 10:30 last night and the bread came out of the oven around midnight. Tip: If you are going to bake bread the day before you need to take it to an event, you might want to start before 2 PM, especially if the bread in question requires a "sponge" to sit out on your kitchen counter for 5+ hours.

However, I did get the bread finished, and it looked pretty good; the Christmas cards are all addressed; the annual holiday letter is written and ready to be taken to Kinko's for photocopying; and who wants to guess if we got the lights strung on the Christmas tree? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Yeah, we still have a nude tree hanging out in our dining room. Maybe tonight we'll get around to it.
