Nice try, kid
The other day, we were at the McDonald's playland. My sister, brother-in-law, and baby niece will join us there from time to time and have a leisurely dinner or lunch or whatever while the kids frolic around.
On this particular day, Zeke, succumbing to peer pressure from some older kids, started climbing up the slide the wrong way.
"Zeke," I called to him, "slides are for sliding down. No climbing up the slide, please."
He stopped, but then a second later, started climbing up again.
"ZEKE. No climbing up the slide. If you do that again, we will have to go home."
He stopped, and looked thoughtful for a moment, and then said:
"Mommy... you should look at Uncle Josh right now."
I've always known that someday my children would be able to outsmart me, and I'm starting to worry that the time is coming sooner than I thought.
