September 27, 2005

I wore a sweatshirt this morning. It's the first time I've worn something with long sleeves since approximately, I don't know, early May. We've arrived at that time of year when I'm pulling out the emergency long-sleeved shirts and long pants from the backs of dresser drawers where they've been abandoned all summer long. I think in a few weeks here it might be time to rotate the summer and winter wardrobes. We'll see. I think I saw some 80-degree highs in the forecast for next week.

Our pumpkin plants are doing great. I've started popping off some of the new blossoms, because at this point I don't want it to make new pumpkins, I want it to focus on finishing the pumpkins it's already started. I count four out there. Two are already bright orange and two are well on their way. There may be a couple of little baby ones coming, too. I'm not sure if they're going to make it to maturity or not before Halloween, but regardless, we should have enough pumpkins to make the front porch look really festive come October 31.

There's something else major going on but I am terrified of jinxing it, so I will let you all know what it is when we find out the outcome one way or another. Don't you just hate cryptic little messages like this?

Sorry. Jinx. Can't risk it.
