Just a quickie entry for today.

For all of you readers out there in Seattle and the Bay Area and other high-priced housing markets, you might want to sit down. Keith and I were surfing some real-estate sites today (no reason in particular, la la la) and I found a very nice selection of 4-bedroom homes that are not falling down and do not have wombats living in the attic and are not located on Indian burial grounds, for between $109k and $155k. Yes, you heard me, there is a house for sale out there that is $109k, and while it probably needs a certain amount of repair, it's not by any means falling down.

Good school district, too.

Say what you want about Ohio; I love this state. LOVE IT.

That is all for today.

Ack! Jamal and I just drove out to look at 3 houses that are for sale for $200,000-$230,000. They're falling down and have wombats living in the attic, not even worth going inside.

But - they're going to be right next to one of the new light rail stops.

I'm going to cry. :(

yeah, well, that's fine if you're really going to live and stay there, and not looking for an investment. My in-laws bought two houses in the midwest and were taken to the cleaners both times when they had to move and sell them for job reasons.

can't sneeze at a dilapidated property here for under 250,000 (and these are some seriously sad houses)
I'm north of Seattle- Bellingham.
it's depressing to look at the real estate here.
s*a*d isn't just seasonal depression.

A fellow Bellinghamster -- I love it! I thank my lucky stars that we got into the market before it went nuts. Our fantastic Craftsman bungalow in the Columbia neighborhood was bought for a paltry $165K two years ago. Funny how it didn't seem like a bargain at the time ("How on earth will we pay the mortgage?!"). Now it'll probably finance our retirement. I don't envy my friends who are trying to buy houses here now. You're right: It's pure insanity.
